How to Lower Your Water Bill Are you happy with your water bill? I’m guessing the answer is “no.” Most people aren’t. Customers ask me for advice on this, lowering their water bill all the time. So I thought I would post some ways you might be able to save money on that. First, let’s talk about your dishwasher. Is it old? How old? A new Energy Star dishwasher might use 15 percent less water than your older model. That means you might save 15% on your water bill. Of course, you know to only run the dishwasher when you have a full load of dishes. Anything else is a waste of money. Of course, you should also upgrade your washing machine, too, if that’s old. An Energy Star model might use 40 percent less water. Think of how much money that can save! Just like your dishwasher, use the right size load as not to waste water and doing a bad job on your clothes. And whenever possible, use cold water.
